Choose the Right Thermal Lens Protector

Germanium Thermal Lens Protectors

Germanium is used because thermal devices detect infrared energy rather than visible light. A Germanium protector can help protect the thermal objective while still allowing the device to image through the lens. Products such as the RH25 / PFalcon640 Shield, Jerry C-PRO Shield, Jerry-C5 / CE5 Shield and Jerry-YM2.0 Shield include Germanium protection options.

Choose Germanium protection when thermal image transmission is required. Confirm coating type, replacement-lens availability, lens retention method and whether the protector affects focus adjustment before ordering.

Titanium Thermal Impact Shields

Titanium shield options are designed for physical impact protection. They may reduce thermal signal compared with a clear Germanium-only setup, so users should confirm the expected imaging impact and use case before selecting a Titanium-only or hybrid configuration.

Night Raider’s device-specific shields are listed in Titanium, Germanium and Titanium + Germanium configurations. The selected variant must match the intended balance between image quality, impact resistance and environmental protection.

Titanium + Germanium Hybrid Protection

Hybrid protectors combine a thermal-transmissive Germanium element with a Titanium impact layer. This configuration is intended for users who want both sacrificial lens protection and additional physical shielding.

Hybrid protection should still be inspected after any impact. Germanium is brittle compared with many structural materials, so any cracked, marked or compromised sacrificial element should be replaced before continued use.

Device-Specific Thermal Shields

RH25 / PFalcon640 Thermal Shields

The PFalcon640 / RH25 Shield is designed to protect the objective lens of compatible RH25 and PFalcon640 thermal imagers. It uses a friction-lock design and offers Titanium, Germanium and Titanium + Germanium variants.

Jerry C-PRO, Jerry-C5 and CE5 Shields

The Jerry C-PRO Shield and C5 / CE5 Shield are designed for compatible COTI clip-on thermal imagers. These products should be selected according to the exact Jerry-C generation, because Jerry-C5, CE5 and Jerry C-PRO housings and objective designs are not interchangeable by default.

Jerry-YM2.0 Thermal Shield

The Jerry-YM2.0 Shield is designed for the Jerry-YM thermal imager and should be paired with the correct Jerry-YM2.0 device generation. Confirm whether the shield maintains access to focus adjustment and whether the selected option includes Germanium, Titanium or both.

Jerry-FB Night Vision and Thermal Lens Protection

The Jerry-FB Shield protects both the thermal imager objective and the night vision lenses on compatible Jerry-FB systems. This product includes sacrificial lenses for the night vision objectives and a Germanium lens for the thermal channel.

Mini-Raider Kill Flash

The Mini-Raider Kill Flash is designed to reduce glare and reflection from Germanium lenses while adding light protective coverage. It should be positioned as a reflection-reduction and lens-protection accessory, not as a direct replacement for a full Germanium sacrificial lens system.

Thermal Armour Versus Thermal Accessories
