This is a high quality reproduction of the original AN/PEQ-16. It was first introduced in 2009 as a replacement for the AN/PEQ-15 on US Marine Corps small arms. While its design is slightly different—shorter in length but larger overall—its most notable improvement is the addition of a built-in white light illuminator.
