The Falconclaw FC PTT is a versatile push-to-talk communication unit designed to connect multiple headset standards, radio platforms and smartphone communication applications through a single compact interface. Developed in Estonia, the FC PTT supports both NATO and Peltor wiring from the same unit, allowing users to switch between compatible hearing protection and communication headsets without purchasing a separate PTT.

Instead of being permanently tied to one radio connector, the Falconclaw FC PTT uses interchangeable radio downlead cables. Falconclaw lists support for more than 1,200 radio models, allowing the same PTT to be moved between compatible radio platforms simply by changing the downlead cable. This makes the system particularly useful for users operating multiple communication platforms or upgrading radios over time.

Integrated Bluetooth connectivity adds a second communication channel for smartphone-based applications such as Zello, voice applications, calls and other phone audio. The radio and Bluetooth push-to-talk controls operate independently, while conventional radio communication, the integrated electret microphone and the physical switches continue to operate even without a battery installed.

NATO & Peltor Compatibility in One PTT

One of the main advantages of the Falconclaw FC PTT is its ability to support both NATO and Peltor headset wiring standards from the same device. A physical A/B selector allows the wiring configuration to be changed according to the connected headset.

• Position A: Peltor wiring
• Position B: NATO wiring

This eliminates the need to purchase separate NATO and Peltor versions of the PTT when working with different compatible communication headsets.

Compatible with 1,200+ Radios

The FC PTT uses a modular radio downlead system rather than permanently attaching the PTT to one radio connector. Falconclaw states that more than 1,200 radio models are supported through the available cable system.

Changing radio platforms therefore requires changing the appropriate downlead rather than replacing the complete PTT.

Important: the radio downlead cable is not included with the FC PTT. A compatible downlead must be selected separately according to the radio model and connector.

Nexus TP-120 Headset Connection

The headset side of the Falconclaw FC PTT accepts the standard Nexus TP-120 (U-174/U) connection as well as the Nexus J-11 plug. Compatible communication headsets that already terminate in a Nexus downlead can therefore connect directly to the PTT.

This includes compatible Peltor ComTac configurations and other communication headsets using the appropriate Nexus interface.

Integrated Bluetooth Communication

Bluetooth connectivity allows the FC PTT to pair with a compatible smartphone and route phone audio through the connected headset. This provides access to smartphone-based communication alongside conventional radio communication.

Compatible applications can include Zello, voice communication applications, calls, navigation audio and other audio generated by the connected phone. The radio PTT and smartphone PTT functions operate independently.

Dedicated Radio & Bluetooth PTT Controls

The Falconclaw FC PTT provides separate controls for conventional radio transmission and Bluetooth-based communication.

The separate controls allow the two communication paths to be managed independently from the same PTT unit.

Integrated Electret Microphone

Unlike conventional PTT units that depend entirely on a headset boom microphone, the Falconclaw FC PTT incorporates its own electret microphone within the PTT housing.

A dedicated C/D selector determines which microphone is used:

• Position C: integrated PTT microphone
• Position D: connected headset microphone

This allows compatible hearing protection without an integrated boom microphone to be incorporated into a communication setup when used with the appropriate adapter.

Works Without a Battery for Radio Communication

The FC PTT does not require a battery for its core radio communication functions. Conventional radio communication, the onboard microphone and the physical switches continue to operate without a battery installed.

The CR123A battery powers the Bluetooth functionality only. This means loss of Bluetooth power does not automatically disable the conventional radio communication path.

Up to 85 Hours Bluetooth Audio Playback

The Bluetooth system is powered by a single CR123A non-rechargeable lithium battery. Falconclaw specifies approximately 85 hours of constant audio playback while Bluetooth is in use, with potentially longer operating time under standby conditions.

The CR123A battery is not included with the product.

Flexible Headset Configurations

The modular design allows the FC PTT to work with several types of compatible hearing protection and communication headsets. Nexus-equipped communication headsets can connect directly, while other hearing protection systems can be integrated using the appropriate Falconclaw adapter.
